2015 End of Season Update!

Hi Members,

2015 has proven to be a great year for our club and we are happy you were a part of it!  The closing of the pool always creates a sense of melancholy, but we have so much to look forward to.

This year the club was able to receive significant upgrades that every member clearly enjoyed.  New pool plaster, upgrades in the pump room, and new shade cabanas provided a noticeably cleaner pool experience. Add to that a professional cleaning services and an excellent group of lifeguards and we had the makings of a near perfect year.

Halloween

Be sure to join us for our annual Halloween Spooktacular.  The holiday falls on a Saturday this year which is absolutely perfect.  We will perform our usual festivities and kick off Huntley Hills trick or treating in style. From young kids' graveyard hunts to pinatas, we serve up a good time for all to enjoy.  Lots of tricks and treats to be had!  More details to follow.

New Clubhouse

We have been mentioning for quite some time the desire to upgrade our clubhouse and immediately surround areas.  Great progress has been made and we are pleased to announce that we will be presenting plans to the general membership in the next few months.  We have hired a talented, local architectural firm and detailed plans are being drawn up as we speak.  We have set a goal of September 2016 to begin the rebuild process and the club will require input from all voting members throughout this off season.  Please watch your inbox for meeting notifications and voting requirements.

Thank you!...

For your continued support of one of our neighborhood gem's.  The HHSTC has an amazing group of members that continue to build an enjoyable experience for so many individuals, couples, and families.  It is truly an amazing experience!

A very talented and dedicated group of volunteers work very hard to provide the best possible experience for our members and support a strong Huntley Hills amenity.  I would like to personally thank each and every board member for your amazing talents and selfless dedication to our club over the years.  We truly are in good hands as we prepare the Huntley Hills Swim and Tennis Club for the next 60 years.  There is also a select group of families lending their professional expertise to better our club.  You know who you are and we thank you kindly!

If you have any comments regarding the 2015 season or suggestions for the 2016 season, please feel free to replay to this email or contact one of our board of directors.  We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2016.  Have a great and safe holiday season.

Thank you,

Ryan Tracy

Membership Directory, WiFi Password, Guest Fees, Recycling, 10 and Over Cards and More!

Hi Members,

Below are some updates and additional information, as we roll into the 2015 swim season...

  • Attached is our 2015 membership directory. Please use it to connect with friends you meet at the pool and/or those who live close to you. If you have changes or updates to your household information, please reply to this email.
  • The WiFi password at the pool is: @dultSw1m (capital S and 1 for the i).
  • We have a new guest fee box located on your left, as you enter the pool. Please use the envelopes next to the box to submit your cash or check. Or you can pay online via PayPal on our Home Page. Guest are $4/person. Click here to read our Guest Policy.
  • There will not be a sign-in sheet this year. Instead, we will be hiring responsible children 10 and over to assist us with random membership and guest fee payment checks. If your child is interested in earning some money or maybe just free ice cream, please have them call our Membership Coordinator, Leslie Freymann at 770-713-0350. She will conduct interviews and help coach/mentor our HHSTC children as they learn communication skills, finances, work ethics, etc.
  • We've bought 4 new recycling cans to help ensure we recycle as much as possible this summer. Chamblee can recycle paper, cardboard, aluminium, plastic and glass. To help with our non-recyclable trash, we've contracted with Chamblee's 1-800-Got-Junk, so you'll be seeing their crew pickup our trash twice/week.
  • Reminder: NO GLASS ALLOWED AT THE POOL. Please switch to canned beer and/or boxed wine for the summer. Thanks!
  • Click here to access the 10 and Over form. Please have your child contact (or find at the pool) our President, Ryan Tracy (404-642-3408) or Vice-President, Leslie Freymann (770-713-0350) to receive their new 2015 membership card.
  • If you haven't already noticed...we LOVE parties! But, in order to protect the safety and satisfaction of all of our member, we have a new party policy. If you are planning a gathering of more than just a few guests, please read it. This policy and the associated fees for violating it will be strictly enforced.
  • Click here to access the Swim at Your Own Risk form.
  • Music at the pool streams through family friendly Pandora stations. Lifeguards and volunteer Board members can change the station. If you have a station or volume request, please let them know.
  • Our pool number is 678-609-8522. If someone calls you from the pool, the number will show as (470) 268-5329 in the caller ID. Either number works. If you are at the pool and hear the phone ring, please answer it. Most likely, it's a parent looking to find their child or a member calling to see if we are on a thunder break.
  • Upcoming Social Events:
    • Memorial Day cookout from 12:30 - 2 pm. $5 for a plate (hamburger/hotdog and chips and drink).

Opening Weekend, Membership Cards, Directory Updates Needed

Hi Members,

The pool opens next week Saturday, May 23rd! We’ll open at 10:30 am and we are looking forward to seeing the line of kids waiting at the front gate :)

Our Memorial Day party is Monday, May 25th. We hope you’ll spend the holiday with us! In addition to the cookout from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm, we have some other fun things planned.

Click here for our 2015 pool hours.

New members will be given their membership tags at the New Member Social on Friday, May 23rd. If you can't make it, you can pickup your tags in the guard room when you first visit the pool. Returning members will not have tags this year. Instead, we will be randomly staffing the front gate and having guards walk around the pool to verify members and paid guests. With only new members having tags, this will help make it easier for everyone to identify them, introduce yourself and help make them feel welcome.

We’ll be sending out a membership directory next week. It’s sent via email in pdf form – it’s not posted online. If your contact information or family names have changed from last year or for new members, when you filled out the wait list form, please let us know by replying to this email.  Also, if you would like to Opt Out of having your contact info shared with members, let us know.

Thanks and we are looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

10 & Over Policy

Hi Members,

Just a reminder that our 10 & Over Policy remains in place for all swimmers the age of 10 or over visiting the facility without parental supervision.  You can review the policy here.  For those swimmers that filled out the form, we have great news!  Your forms will carry over to this year.  We recommend reviewing the policy with your child to ensure they understand the responsibilities that come along with this privilege.

For new swimmers, please review the policy as a family and follow the instructions on the form.  If anyone has questions, please contact Ryan Tracy via email at ryantracy0123@gmail.com .  Please understand that we are all volunteers and have full time jobs.  Responses will be handled at the earliest possible convenience of that particular board member.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone next weekend!

Membership Update, Swim Team Registration and More!

It's been another rock solid year for membership at our club. Without doing any advertising or promotions, we've already reached our cap (with dozens still on the wait list). We are no longer accepting new memberships for 2015. If you have friends or neighbors that would like to join next year, please direct them to our website, where they can sign up to be on the 2016 wait list. It's free to sign-up and there is no obligation to join.

In other news...
  • Hammerhead practice starts Monday, April 27th - in 10 days!! If you have not already registered your child(ren), please do so asap. All of the information can be found on our website.
  • The resurfacing of the pool went great - it looks beautiful!
  • The new shade cabanas are setup and ready to go.
  • We've purchased MORE large umbrellas and rolling bases - we know how our members love shade.
  • New commercial toilets have been installed in the both bathrooms.
  • The diving board is about to get a major make-over - it's going to look (and bounce!) great.
  • We've hired (for the first time ever) a commercial cleaning company to help ensure the kitchen, bathrooms and clubhouse stay super clean, all summer long.
  • Our new pump valves and plumbing are running smoothly - and our water turn-over rate is now significantly increased.
  • We are purchasing more trash cans for the pool deck - so exciting, right!?
  • We passed our Health Department inspection with flying colors.
Join us this Sunday at 1 pm for our last volunteer work day before we open. We have several fun projects planned.

See you soon!

It’s Hammertime!!!!

Hey all you Hammerheads, It’s Hammertime!!!!

The swim season is fast approaching and we need everyone to signup and suit up!
Swim team registration is now active on the Hammerhead Swim Team portal (no more Active.com for us, yea!)  In the upper right corner of the site you will see a big white box for Online Registration.  Returning families, make sure you don't miss the yellow flashing link, "Click here if you've registered for this team before".  This will populate all of your information from last year.  Huge time saver.

Note: For split families with step-moms and dads, there is no easy way to set this up.  You can put which ever you like for Parent 1 and Parent 2.  In the additional email field you can add additional emails for other family members, separated by commas.  Just remember it is a share password for all emails assigned to a family.

We are having a swim suit sizing and Parent meeting this Sunday, March 29 in the clubhouse from 1:00p – 3:00p.  We will not have the vendor come to the pool this year, but we will have a sizing kit for the kids to try on suits.  We have the kit now and will have it for a while after the meeting if you cannot attend the meeting.

Ordering will be done online on the Hammerhead Swim Shop.  We will collect suit orders on our team website until April 15.  After that you'll have to order directing from the vendor and pay shipping.

For the Parents – we will have a meeting from 2:30 to 3:00pm. We will introduce ourselves and discuss what the upcoming season will entail as far as practices, meets, volunteer expectations and address any questions you may have.  We would love to have any parents that are considering having their children join the swim team attend the meeting to see what the swim team is about.

Many have asked, so we will be ordering personalized swim caps again.  You can order them on the swim shop.  We must order a minimum of 50 caps.  If we can get at least 15 personalized cap orders (remember 1 order is 2 caps), then the team will make up the minimum with blank caps.  Remember to use the company name field for your personalization, letters only, no spaces or numbers.

We look forward to seeing everyone and having a winning season!  The 2015 Parent Handbook will be ready for publishing once we get our schedule from ASA.  That should be in the coming weeks.
Don't forget you must also complete ASA League registrations for each swimmer.

If you have any questions before the meeting please call Mary at 404-444-7870

March 15th Workday

Hi Members,

Huntley Hills Swim and Tennis Club will have it's first volunteer work day Sunday, March 15th from 1PM - 4PM.

We hire professionals for the difficult tasks but there are some things we prefer to do the old fashion way.  In doing so friends can come together and get in the summer spirit.  Among other fun tasks, we will assemble our new shade cabanas, which we are very excited about and will be a great addition to the pool deck.  Most projects will be hands on, easy to accomplish, and can involve all family members.

Aside from a few enjoyable hours at the pool, you can earn your $25 work day fee for participating.  We hope to see many of you there!

Summer Calendar, New Board Members, Capital Improvements and Renewal Dues Due

Hi Members,

It may only be February but we are in full planning mode for summer! Here are some updates...
  • Our social calendar is almost finalized. Some of the highlights include Live Band Saturday, Taco Night, Smoothie Contest, Father's Day Open Grill Night and much more! Click here to see what we have planned.
  • We have new Board members. Welcome Van Pappas and James McIntyre!
  • Capital improvements - coming our way!
    • New and improved shade cabanas to line the pool on the tennis court side.
    • A new roof has been installed on the pump house.
    • We plan to make a few improvements to the bathrooms before we open (new toilets anyone?).
    • Work will soon be done to replace our large pool values in the pump room (not terribly exciting but necessary and long overdue).
    • We are looking into replastering/retiling our entire pool, which will be a major capital expense; it will likely happen either this Spring or in the Fall, just depending on contract details and weather.
    • Our budget is sound; we have room to do all the necessary repairs and upkeep so we can all enjoy clean, safe, well maintained facilities. We also have a healthy surplus that we are saving for our new clubhouse fund (more about that later).
As always, dues are due March 15th! After careful consideration and much debate, we voted unanimously to raise dues by $50 this year, for the following reasons:
  • We haven't raised dues in 4 years and yet the cost of our pool contract has increased by a minimum of 3% every year.
  • Over the last 5 years, we have greatly expanded our open/guarded hours; we will also be adding significantly to the 2nd guard shifts this summer, to help increase safety.
  • Based on our member survey results, we have capped membership; there will no longer be continued growth in numbers and new initiation fees, which have funded our improvements and savings account thus far.
  • Future capital improvements, upgrades and repairs will still be needed. We also need to continue setting money aside in savings so we can afford to build a new clubhouse.
2015 Renewal Dues are as follows (and still the lowest of any club around town):
Family: $550
Couple: $450
Single: $400

Click here to renew. We have a wait list with over 50 people on it; don't delay and miss the March 15th deadline or you will risk losing your membership.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know by replying to this email.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you soon!
