Hi Members,

Just a reminder that we are open all day with guarded hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the remainder of August.  Hours are 10:30 AM until 8:00 PM.  This started last year but it rained the entire season and we think no one was able to enjoy it.  We want to see how many of you take advantage of these rare, private, well deserved hours that are being offered.

If you remember to do so, please take the time to send us an email informing us of your pool usage during these hours.  Enjoy the serenity!

And, BTW, we are open 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and Wednesday, 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday, 10:30 AM until 9:00 PM Saturday, and 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Sunday.

Friday Cookout

This Friday we are going to party like it's June and have a Friday Night Cookout.

That's right, we're going old school.  We all know July is vacation month but after this wet, cool weather, we need to get back out there and have a blast!

The current forecast for Friday is 85 with basically no chance of rain, followed by sunshine and 90 for the rest of the weekend.  Let's kick off a great, warm weekend at the pool with this week's Friday Night Cookout.

The food will be ready around 6 PM.  We hope to see you there!

This Weekend @ HHSTC

Friday Night
It has been a very quiet week at the pool.  Due to a lack of volunteers, there will not be a cookout this week.  But, the water is spectacular and the weather has been perfect.  Come on up and enjoy a Friday evening with your friends!

Saturday Night
Line up the babysitters, it's ADULT NIGHT!  Relax by the pool with friends while not having to worry about the kids.  The pool will close at 7:00 PM to children.  The fun will last until midnight.  This was originally scheduled to be a "Saturday Night Fever" party; however, our usual party planners are out of town this weekend.  Instead of a theme we will just get together and have a good time.  A good time may include ping pong, possibly corn hole, foosball, conversations, swimming, etc.  There is just no telling how much fun we can have.

We hope everyone has a great and safe weekend  and hopefully we will see many of you at the pool!

Ping Pong

We hope everyone has been enjoying the new ping pong table.  If you have had the opportunity to play, you know it is a blast!

Since it is new there is a learning curve involved for us from a management perspective.  Moving forward, if you would like to play ping pong please bring your own set of paddles and a ball or two.  They would be for your use and anyone you would like to join in.  At the end of the day, they are your responsibility.

HHSTC is happy to supply the table but we cannot manage the accessories.  Anyone prepared is welcome to play at their leisure, but the table will be inaccessible during private parties where the clubhouse has been rented.

Thank you for your understanding.

Lifeguards

We have had an excellent season so far.  Our lifeguards have been a huge part of the safe fun we have been enjoying all summer.  We are fortunate to have a great team.  Our pool company, Sears Pool Management Consultants, has a bonus system in place that builds points off of positive feedback.  A large portion of these points are earned from comments we hear from you!  The more points that are earned, the larger their bonus.  The next time you see a guard doing something that you appreciate, that stands out, that makes you say, "wow, he/she is doing a great job," please take the time let us know.  It is very important for all of us to stop and notice the little things they do.

If you have not already liked us on Facebook, please take the time to do so at  www.facebook.com/HHSTC.   Over the next few weeks we will be providing updates to give you an opportunity to become familiar with our guards so that you will know who you will be supporting in the positive points program.  You can reply to this email, email us separately at huntleyhillsswimtennis@gmail.com or comment on one of the Facebook posts.

We have heard from several members throughout the course of the season and we greatly appreciate their feedback and positive support.  Now we very much look forward to hearing your comments!

Fri, Sat and Sunday at the Pool

Hi Members,

We hope to see you at the pool this weekend!

We're not having a cookout Friday (July 11th) because we don't have enough volunteers on deck to make it happen. But please feel free to bring your own food and use the grills. It's also a great night to order delivery or take-out from one of our many wonderful sponsors

Saturday night is kids movie night in the clubhouse. We're not sure of the movie yet - but it will be something on Netflix that is G or PG and we'll let the kids who show up decide. We'll start around 6pm. We'll be serving popcorn during the movie; please have your children eat dinner ahead of time. Blankets and pillows are optional but encouraged. Also, there may or may not be ping pong and foosball tournaments happening on the pool deck, depending on who shows up.

Sunday we'll be watching the World Cup Final Game starting at 3pm. Come join us! Many thanks to Nick Guerrero for giving us a summer of games in the clubhouse.

Looking ahead...

Friday, July 18th - cookout
Saturday, July 19th - ADULT ONLY Saturday Night Fever Party!

Our two main party planners (Leslie and Ashley) will be out of town, so we are looking for people to help plan something fun and pull it all together. If you can help with either the cookout or adult party, please reply to this email.

Thanks!

Teen Lock-In Tonight!

Since enough volunteers came forward, the party will go on.  Tonight after the swim team banquet kids 6th grade through 12th grade are welcome to stay the night for an evening full of fun.  Three parents will chaperone and more are welcome should you decide you would like to be involved.  Some key points:
  • 9pm - 8am, please be punctual Wednesday morning for pick up
  • Send with money if they want to be involved with:
    • ping pong tournament, $5 entry fee
    • Pizza/food ordering
  • Come prepared with sleeping bag, blankets, pillow, etc.
Lifeguards have volunteered to guard the pool and, along with chaperones, this will be a safe place for teens to let loose and have some fun.

July 4th Party Details

Hello Members,

We hope you are planning to spend Friday, July 4th with us! Here are our plans...

Our annual bike parade starts at 10:00 am. We welcome all bikes, strollers, wagons, dogs, and family members to follow the route down Plantation to Montford then Greenhill to Stark and Ensign and back to Plantation to the pool. We ask that everyone start to gather around 9:30 so we can have a prompt start. We encourage everyone to decorate their vehicles to the max, as we will have prizes at the end for best decorated in different age groups, pets, family combos and any other categories that we come up with! And all who finish will get a popsicle.

The pool opens at 10:30 am.

The grill will be open from 12:00 to 1:30 pm for burgers, hot dogs and some other July 4th surprises. The cost is $5/plate. If you can volunteer to help with the grill, please reply to this email. Thanks!

Pool games and other activities start around 11:00 am and will continue throughout the afternoon. A detailed schedule is coming soon...

The party is FREE for members. Guest fees are $10/person because we spend a bunch of money on this party and give away lots of free stuff - to kids and adults. We'll also have a seriously large slip & slide AND a bounce house, courtesy of one or our sponsors, Jump and Slide.

And remember our famous (infamous?) annual beer dive? We are sad to report that we will not be doing that this year because of too many complaints.

JUST KIDDING! It's totally on and this year we are even adding mini plastic bottles of wine - for the ladies.

We expect to be crowded - please feel free to bring your own pool chairs. We'll have 4 extra shade tents setup but feel free to bring your own tent and/or umbrella.

We hope to see everyone there to celebrate Independence Day with friends and neighbors!!

- HHSTC Board

PS. The City of Chamblee also has great July 4th activities starting at 5pm and terrific fireworks! Click here for details.

Important Membership Update and Directory

Hi Members,

Have you heard our record breaking news?

We've had the most new members join in one season, we've had the lowest turnover rate in the 7 years we've been tracking it AND we have the highest membership level ever recorded at our club. In fact, we reached our capacity several weeks ago and have not been accepting any new members for the remaining 2014 swim season. At the end of the season, we will be surveying all of our members to find out what everyone thinks of our current level, before we make any decisions about the membership cap for next year.

In the meantime, if you have friends or family thinking about joining, please have them fill out our 2015 Membership Notification form. We are not going to implement another wait list. Instead we are going to try a first come, first serve approach. Returning members will have ample time and notice to renew before any memberships are released to new members.

In related news, attached is an updated Membership Directory (available via email to members), which includes all of our new members. Please review your information and let me know of any changes. New members - if you haven't picked up your new member tags, they are waiting for you in the kitchen, to the right of the windows.

Thanks and I hope everyone is enjoying their summer,

Leslie Freymann
HHSTC Membership Chair

Friday cookout, Saturday Night Fever Party and Swim Meet

We hope everyone is finding the time to come cool off during this recent heat wave.  The water feels great!  Below are a few things upcoming over the course of the next week or so...

Our usual Friday Night Cookout kicks into gear at around 6 PM.  Saturday brings us our 1st Saturday Night Fever Party.  The party begins at 5 PM and will include disco themed music, games for all ages, and pizza/concessions.  This is fun for the entire family and will surely be a great time!  Tuesday will be the finalHammerheads swim meet of the season and it is a home match.  Come on out and support our swim team.  They have done a great job this year!  The pool will close at 3 PM in preparation for the meet.

And a reminder that the pool opens at 10:30 AM every day except Sunday, which is 11 AM, no exceptions.  Swimming prior to official opening times creates an unnecessary safety risk to swimmers below 18 years of age.  Participants of Swim at Your Risk, who have signed and returned the waiver, may use the pool between from 6 AM - 10 AM.

Our #1 Priority

Hi All,

We hope your summer has gotten off to a great start. We've already had several fun events at our pool and have so many more fun things planned! We are super excited to share all the details, but before we do, we'd like to focus for a minute on our number one priority: safety.

Overall, things have been running very smoothly at our pool and to help keep it that way, we'd love for all our members to take a few minutes to review our rules by clicking here. If you have children, please go over the rules with them. With your help, we can keep our current safety streak going!

Below are a few other specific items that we'd like to address...

Deep End Rules
There is no swimming permitted in the deep end unless the guard has obviously closed the diving board.  Divers shall dive straight ahead and swim to the nearest ladder and exit the pool.  Parents, adult swim would be a better time to catch your small children from the diving board. During busy kids swim times, all swimmers must abide by this rule. The rope is the dividing line between the diving and swimming areas.

Pool Phone
If it is ringing, please answer it. 99% of the time it is a parent looking for their child.

Lifeguard Interaction
Guards may be approached by members at any time for immediate health and safety (1st aid) concerns. All medical supplies are located in the guard room and the guards are trained to assist with these matters. For all other concerns, comments or questions related to lifeguards and their management of the pool, please contact Ryan Tracy at 404-642-3408 or ryan-tracy@comcast.net, or any available board member

No Glass
If glass breaks in or near the pool, we have to drain all the water and refill it; it's super expensive and we will bill the responsible party.

Closing Procedure
The latest we stay open is 10 PM. The guards are instructed to blow the whistle and call adult swim at 9:45 PM.  Please use this last 15 minutes to gather your belongings and prepare to exit the facility no later than 10 PM.

Tennis Reservations
Our courts are very popular. Remember to utilize the on line court reservation. Most importantly, if you blocked off a time slot and know you will not be able to attend your reservation, be sure to go cancel your reservation. There are usually others who will happily fill your time slot - even at the last minute.

Thanks for reading this and don't forget to sign up to help with one of our upcoming social activities. Click here.

See you at the pool!

We'll also have a Corn Hole Tournament going on. Stay tuned for details.
